Why to wear Sioux Shoes
Alice gives her insights as to why the German brand Sioux is back and better than ever. Our collections include beautiful ranges of mens and ladies Sioux.

A Striking History
Since 1954 Sioux has been a forerunner with trends and innovations in the shoe world. Their journey began with the creation of a moccasin based around Native American inspirations. Throughout the 60’s the Sioux name rose to power and was worn by many celebrities including the Racing Legend Stirling Moss. Sioux then took the industry by storm and throughout the 70’s were seen as one of the shoe pioneers and were even an official supplier to the Germany Olympic Team! In its later history further milestones have been reached and Sioux has even been awarded the ‘German Footwear and Leather Aware’ for an exceptional and creative moccasin design. Watkinsons is one of the only retailers in the UK to sell the Sioux name, stocking many ladies and mens designs.

The Innovator of the Grashopper Moccasin
In 1964, the Grashopper moccasin was born. This shoe was created to offer complete freedom and movement of the toes. This shoe was one of the innovators of casual wear- before the trainer was seen as a casual fashion statement. The Grashopper soon became one of Sioux’s most popular designs for ladies and men.
In 1970 British shoe manufacturer Clark’s acquired the licence for the Grashopper to sell under their name. Their license agreement ended recently and the Grashopper by Sioux has officially been reborn!

The Indian Spirit
The campaign of ‘Feel The Indian Spirit’ was born again in 2016 and combines many elements of the Sioux philosophy including freedom and a sense of belonging. The concept that indigenous ideals have a role for our modern society is a core message from the Sioux brand!

Sustainability
Sioux has halved their energy consumption in the last few years. Their merchandise from non-European locations is transported to Germany by Sea only to avoid fast- fashion formats. Sioux manufacturers shoes to of quality and high-durability.
